11 killed in Buner, DI Khan road accidents

DAGGAR: Eleven persons were killed and seven others sustained injuries in two separate road mishaps in Buner and Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday.

Six persons were killed and seven others sustained when a vehicle plunged into a ravine in the Tupani area of Buner district.

Police sources said that Khursheed, a resident of Kindar Katay, was en route to a family event with his relatives when their vehicle veered off a dangerous bend and fell into a deep gorge.

Officials said six passengers died on the spot, while seven others sustained serious injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Sajida, Samreen, 15, Alia, 22, Shazia, 23, Fazal Ahmad, 8, and Fawad, 15.

The local residents, along with rescue teams, rushed to the scene and helped evacuate the injured and retrieve the bodies. Officials said the injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Daggar, RHC Nawagai, and local hospitals in Nagrai, where medical treatment is ongoing.

Meanwhile, five people, including a woman and her two brothers, were killed in a head-on collision between a car and a truck on Chashma Road in Dera Ismail Khan.

According to rescue sources, the car was heading toward Dera Ismail Khan when it collided with a Punjab-bound truck. The collision was so severe that the car was completely wrecked, and all five passengers died on the spot.

The victims have been identified as Ruda Munir, Muhammad Motasim, Muhammad Talha, Muzzammil and Waseem.
