JI demands probe into corruption scams

TIMERGARA: Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (North) chief and former senior minister Inayatullah Khan on Monday demanded investigations by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other anti-graft institutions into several corruption scandals that have rocked the province.

Addressing a meeting of the JI members at Timergara as chief guest here, he said the scandals included the Rs40 billion Kohistan scam, Rs30 billion solar panel fraud, Rs7 billion wheat scandal, Rs1.19 billion medicine scam, and the Rs110 million biscuit scandal.

JI registered members from all parts of the district attended the gathering that was also addressed by former party chief Sirajul Haq, district chief Maulana Asadullah, Sheikh Noor Ahmad Din, district general secretary Shoiab Ahmad, Maulana Ihsanullah Khalis and others.

Inayatullah Khan leader accused the provincial government of massive corruption, institutional failure, and administrative chaos.He warned that public trust in governance was rapidly eroding due to rampant financial mismanagement and political favoritism.

Inayatullah condemned the reported scrapping of Rs42 billion worth of development projects in Malakand Division, calling it “an injustice to the people of underdeveloped areas.”He urged the government to restore the dropped schemes and ensure fair development across the province.

“The discretionary fund has been inflated from Rs50 million to Rs500 million, while secret funds have risen from Rs50 million to Rs200 million. These figures alone reflect the extent of financial irregularities,” he said.

Inayatullah criticized the prolonged inactivation of the Balambat irrigation project and alleged “mega corruption” in the Timergara Medical College project.Calling for accountability, he said: “NAB and other institutions must launch transparent investigations into these scams. Those responsible must be held accountable, and justice should be served without delay.”

He urged JI workers to continue their political struggle in a more organized and determined manner. “We will knock at every door for the rights of the people. The corrupt system must be confronted, and Jamaat-e-Islami is the only force capable of delivering real change,” he claimed.

Inayatullah stressed the need to raise awareness among the public. “The time has come to awaken the people, speak out for their rights, and expose the corrupt elements who have destroyed governance in this province.”
