29 OMCs digitalised in oil supply chain overhaul
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s oil industry has taken a major step toward digital transformation as 29 oil marketing companies (OMCs) have deployed enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to integrate with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (Ogra) nationwide track & trace system.
Officials said roughly 15,000 tank lorries are already fitted with GPS tracking devices as part of the system, which aims to stamp out fuel smuggling, illegal decantation, and other supply chain malpractices. In a virtual session chaired by OGRA Chairman Masroor Khan, regulators and more than 100 industry representatives reviewed the progress of the project designed to digitally monitor fuel movement from refineries and import terminals to depots, tank lorries, and retail outlets. “Digitalisation of the oil supply chain is critical to ensure transparency, safety and efficiency,” Khan said, urging all industry players to work closely with OGRA for nationwide enforcement.
The Track & Trace platform links ERP software, GPS tracking, and centralized dashboards for real-time monitoring. OGRA said full-scale implementation would enhance regulatory oversight and boost confidence in the country’s petroleum supply chain.
