Root of disunity

With a prolonged trail of lawlessness and injustice in Balochistan, Pakistan now stands at the precipice of chaos. Though the province is saturated with natural resources like gas, coal, copper, and gold, its people remain among the poorest in the country. Influential local elites also tend to monopolise development funds and the people of the province feel excluded from the various projects going on in the region. This situation can only be quenched by rule of law. Unless the state considers and treats Balochistan as an equal stakeholder in the federation, the dream of national unity will remain a far-fetched idea.
