LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab Monday strongly condemned the shocking revelations presented in the Auditor General of Pakistan’s audit report for the Fiscal Year 2024–25.

In a statement, the opposition party said the report stands as an irrefutable charge sheet against the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and her illegitimate government.

According to the report, serious financial irregularities of over PKR1,000 billion have been uncovered in Punjab’s expenditure accounts. These include fraud, misuse of public funds, unauthorized payments, financial mismanagement, suspicious procurement practices, and illegal placement of consolidated funds in commercial banks.

“The so-called chief minister has continued the legacy of family corruption by setting new records of financial misconduct in an alarmingly short time. Public tax money, earned through hard work and sweat of the people, is being squandered ruthlessly on self-promotion, propaganda, and lavish indulgences, the scale of which is unprecedented in the province’s history.

“This artificial and unsustainable government is fully aware that the people have categorically rejected them and that they will not return to power. That is why they are plundering Punjab’s resources with impunity before their imminent departure. Those responsible for pushing the people into the abyss of inflation, unemployment, and poverty while misusing public funds for personal luxury will be held accountable,” said the statement.
