LAHORE:The Punjab Saaf Pani Authority (PSPA) has launched a major initiative to install over 3,000 water filtration plants in schools and madrasas across the province, aiming to provide safe drinking water and improve public health.
The project was officially announced at a ceremony by Housing Minister Bilal Yaseen and Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat. In the first phase, three schools and three madrasas located in areas with unsafe groundwater have been selected for immediate installation.
PSPA’s trained teams will handle both installation and long-term maintenance to ensure sustainability. Addressing the event, Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Ameen Mengal underscored the health hazards posed by contaminated water and revealed plans to expand the initiative to colleges and hospitals due to their high footfall and critical need for clean water.
Senior PSPA officials, including Chairman Chaudhry Zahid Akram, CEO Syed Zahid Aziz, and DG Zohaib Butt, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the health infrastructure in the province. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of financial aid cheques to representatives of the selected institutions. Recipients expressed their gratitude and stressed the urgent need for clean water in their communities.
