‘Summer sports camps launched to promote healthy activities among youth’
LAHORE:DG Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry Monday said the SBP Summer Sports Camps are aimed at saving our youth from negative effects of mobile phone and bring them towards healthy sports activities.
Talking to reporters at National Hockey Stadium, the DG said students can use their summer vacations’ extra time in summer camps in an effective way. Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The DG said the Sports Camps are starting from June 24 in all districts of the province. “On the first day, the young participants and their parents will take part in orientation session in which important information will be shared regarding training schedule of Summer Sports Camps.”
He expressed hope to find several highly talented athletes out of the Summer Camps participants. “These budding youngsters will be further trained so that they can serve the country at national and international level.” \ The DG said more than 3,300 players will participate in Summer Sports Camps across all districts. “More than 900 players are participating in Summer Sports Camps being organized at different venues of Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC)”. Khizar said sports shirts and other essential facilities will be provided to players and their parents during Summer Sports Camps. “The Summer Sports Camps are being organised in 14 sports disciplines this year, he said.
Earlier, the DG also chaired a meeting at National Hockey Stadium to review the preparations of Summer Sports Camps. Besides, Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum, all administrators and coaches also attended the meeting.
Addressing the participants, Khizar said all the preparations of Summer Sports Camps have been completed. “Expert coaches will impart modern training to all participants of 5 to 19 years age during Summer Sports Camps”.
