‘Think Tech, Think Pakistan’ campaign hits London black cabs

LONDON: A campaign has started on London’s iconic black taxis to promote Pakistan as the next destination of technology.

Around 50 black taxis are running on London’s streets with the banner “Think Tech, Think Pakistan” to project Pakistan as the favoured destination for new age technology and media, with backing from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Ministry of IT and Telecommunications.

The campaign has gone live after Pakistan’s participation at London Tech Week 2025 at Olympia London that concluded last week, marking a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing mission to position itself as a leading global tech destination.

Around 14 representatives of Pakistani technology companies attended the London Tech Week, led by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) in partnership with Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).

Abu Bakar, Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) said the initiative brought together 14 of Pakistan’s most forward-looking tech companies to the heart of one of the world’s largest innovation gatherings.

“There was a huge interest in Pakistan from investors, enterprise buyers, policy leaders, and diaspora stakeholders eager to engage with the country’s rapidly evolving digital ecosystem. Think Tech, Think Pakistan resonated everywhere. Engagement is surging across digital platforms under #ThinkTechThinkPakistan, with an active contest inviting entries to win a return trip to Lahore or a $1,000 reward.”

Standing next to a black taxi in central London, Amir Anzur, Chief Marketing Officer, PSEB said: “Think Tech, Think Pakistan has gone popular across London and on social media. Tens of thousands of people are watching this slogan daily. We have a tech export market of nearly $4 billion which is growing at the rate of 23 per cent per annum. We are planning to take it to $15 billion in the next five years. There is a huge youth potential in Pakistan, the educated, English-speaking youth connected globally. They are tech savvy and one of the best labour market.”

He said: “We are thankful to PM Shehbaz Sharif and IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja for their full spirit and their tech vision.”

In a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the momentum created through Pakistan’s participation: “I congratulate all stakeholders on Pakistan’s impactful presence at London Tech Week 2025. This positions Pakistan as a forward-looking country that is harnessing technology, innovation, and youth potential to engage with the world.

“Our presence at such an important platform reflects our growing digital footprint and global ambition. I commend the Ministry of IT, PSEB, TDAP, and our tech entrepreneurs for presenting Pakistan with vision and purpose.”

Minister for IT and Telecommunications, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja noted: “What we’ve achieved at London Tech Week is the result of collective ambition and alignment across government, industry, and our diaspora. Pakistan is no longer knocking at the door; we are stepping into global conversations as a tech partner of value. Our talent, cost efficiency, and innovation are now impossible to ignore.”
