Cop killed, five injured in Peshawar explosion
PESHAWAR: A policeman was killed and five passers-by were injured in a remote-controlled blast at the Pajagi Road in the provincial capital on Thursday.
Fazal Akbar, a police official at the Faqirabad Police Station, said that two kg of improvised explosive device (IED) was planted near the residence of a judge on a roadside in Rashidabad at Pajagi Road, which exploded a few minutes before the Iftar.
He said that one policeman, Farmanullah, was killed and five passers-by including Rohan, Amirullah, Jehangir, Ibrahim and Naqeebullah were injured. The police official said that one car was partially damaged in the blast.
The injured persons were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital by Rescue 1122. An official at the hospital said that they received the body of policeman Farmanullah. The injured persons were stated to be out of danger.
