Pemra council orders cable operators to include Geo in news bouquet
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s Council of Complaints has ordered all cable operators to include Geo in the news bouquet.
While hearing the complaint of Geo TV against cable operators during a meeting chaired by Dr Mehdi Hassan at the Pemra Regional Office on Thursday, the council ordered all the cable operators to include the channel in their news bouquet.
The council also recommended a fine of Rs1 million on Royal News for broadcasting insulting content against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).It also recommended a fine of Rs200,000 for absence and non-seriousness of ARY News in a complaint filed against the channel by the Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood.
The council deferred the complaint of Messrs Sitara Chemical Industries against Channel 24 till the next hearing while imposing a fine of Rs50,000 for its non-serious attitude.
It deferred the hearing of a complaint filed by Waqas Qadeer Sheikh against Channel 24 and another by cricketer Muhammad Hafeez against television channels due to his tour to England with the Pakistani team.
