CHAUMONT, France: A 14-year-old French pupil detained over the killing of a teaching assistant said he had wanted to attack “any” adult school monitor after he was reprimanded for kissing his girlfriend, a prosecutor said on Wednesday.

“He said he acted in such a manner because he could no longer stand the behaviour of monitors in general,” the prosecutor in the northeastern town of Chaumont, Denis Devallois, told reporters after the stabbing on Tuesday.

Devallois said the teenager did not appear to suffer from any “mental disorder”, but added the self-described fan of “violent video games” appeared “detached” and expressed “no regret” during questioning.

“He said there was perhaps a link with the fact he was told off by a monitor on Friday, June 6, as he was kissing his girlfriend on school grounds. He said this monitor was not the one that became a victim on Tuesday.”

“He stated that he had, as early as the next day, Saturday, mulled over a plan to kill a monitor, in his own words, ´any one of them´,” the prosecutor added.
