Abacus hosts UK high commissionerfor tech collaboration talks

KARACHI: A delegation from the British High Commission, led by High Commissioner Jane Marriott, visited Abacus’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) office in Lahore on Sunday (May 25) to explore avenues for strengthening UK-Pakistan technology and economic ties.

The discussions focused on expanding IT and technology partnerships, with particular attention to Abacus’s operations and growth strategies in the UK market. Talks also covered potential UK support for Abacus’s expansion, including skills development, digital transformation and cross-border tech engagements.

Marriott praised Abacus as a “fantastic example” of strong partnerships, noting the “huge potential” in collaboration between both countries’ “powerhouses of talent and innovation”.Abacus CEO Fatima Asad-Said echoed these sentiments, emphasising the UK’s strategic importance. “We are poised to scale our impact through partnerships that leverage British expertise and Pakistan’s tech prowess,” she said, expressing anticipation for “impactful collaborations”.

The British delegation included Head of the Lahore Office Ben Warrington and Chevening Alumni Engagement Officer Reema Salman. They met with Abacus leadership, including Asad-Said, Chief Strategy Officer Faeza Khan, and Global Head of the BPO Division Shaheryar Rafiq Butt. The delegation also toured Abacus’s outsourcing facilities to identify synergies with British firms.
