LAHORE: Managing Director of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) Amer Tufail, during his visit to the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) office on Tuesday, assured the industry of resolving all gas-related issues on a priority basis.
He said that the export-oriented industry has always been given high priority in gas supply, and SNGPL will continue to fully facilitate and cooperate with the textile sector to meet its energy requirements. Amer also offered to lay a dedicated gas pipeline for mills that opt to operate round the clock to shield them from outages or pressure fluctuations.
The SNGPL chief informed APTMA that every effort is being made to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to the entire industrial sector, particularly export-driven units, including APTMA member mills. He said that all SNGPL field formations have been instructed to remain vigilant and responsive to the needs of exporters, without any delay.
Amer requested that APTMA notify him directly in the event of any non-cooperation or delays by SNGPL personnel. He assured that all concerns raised by APTMA would be sympathetically addressed and resolved on a priority basis.
Earlier, APTMA leadership expressed concern over the high gas tariff, describing it as unaffordable for exporters. They noted that gas consumption had plummeted to just 13 mmcfd, compared to a normal demand of 150 mmcfd prior to the tariff hike.
