Violent clashes erupted on Tuesday in Moro, a town in District Naushahro Feroze, during demonstrations, reportedly by workers of the banned organisation Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz, against the construction of a canal on the Indus River and corporate farming

The confrontation between police officials and protesters turned deadly, as two of the protesters succumbed to their injuries they had suffered during the unrest. According to reports, the protest on the National Highway in Moro escalated after police attempted to disperse the protesters. The resulting clashes involved stone-pelting and aerial firing, leading to injuries to at least 11 people, including seven protesters and three police officials.

The injured were shifted to the Nawabshah Hospital, where one of the wounded, Zahid Laghari, later died due to the severity of his injuries. A second protester also reportedly expired, though his identity is yet to be confirmed.

In retaliation, an enraged mob stormed and set fire to the residence of Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar. Two oil tankers were also torched during the chaos. In response to the violence, police launched a widespread operation in various areas of Moro under the supervision of Naushahro Feroze SSP Sanghar Malik and Shaheed Benazirabad SSP Shabbir Sethar. Several suspects have been detained as part of the ongoing crackdown.

Following the unrest, Moro has been placed under a lockdown, with all commercial and public activities coming to a halt. Tensions remain high in the region as security forces maintain a heavy presence to prevent further escalation.
