PA condemns breach of Indus Waters Treaty by India
LAHORE:Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed a unanimous resolution condemning violation of Indus Basin Treaty by India and asserted that there can be no compromise over water issue.
The resolution was moved by PMLN legislator Uzma Kardar also stated that Pakistan, by all means would protect its sovereignty and independence against Indian aggression. It also stated that the entire world was viewing India as an irresponsible country, losing its worth in international community.
Rejecting the violation of Indus Basin Treaty signed in 1960, the resolution also warned India not to consider Pakistan's stance on peace as its weakness. Earlier, Punjab Assembly witnessed heated argument between Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and Opposition MPA Sardar Ali. The situation got tense when Opposition MPA insisted to speak despite denial of permission by chair and his mike was switched off by the assembly staff. The session was underway with member of Panel of Chairman Sami Ullah Khan in chair. The chair remarked that nobody could ask the assembly staff to turn on the mike. During this episode, both Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and the Opposition MPA exchanged heated and objectionable words against each other. Besides, the PA also witnessed noise when Opposition MPA Sheikh Imtiaz protested against the registration of FIR against him for burning the effigy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Law Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth on the occasion assured he would hold inquiry. 'I will burn Modi's effigy outside Punjab Assembly, stop me if you can' said Sheikh Imtiaz of PTI over which the chair remarked it would not let anyone score points in Punjab Assembly. Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth on the occasion stated Modi's effigy would be set on fire in entire Pakistan. He added the way Pakistan Army had given a befitting reply to India, it deserved tremendous praise. The MPAs on the occasion also welcomed the decision of nominating Army Chief Gen Asim Munir as Field Marshal of Pakistan.
In the question hour session, Punjab Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat told the House that funds of Rs1.2 billion had been released for the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences by HED and centre. He also stated that PMLN government had launched 16 disciplines in UVAS after coming to power. Regarding the fee charged from the students of Queen Mary College in the name of transport fare, the minister assured he would personally look into this matter. He stated the institution of Queen Mary School, College was remarkable and possessed a very high stature.
