LDA DG inspects Tollinton Market upgrade
LAHORE:Lahore Development Authority (LDA) DG Tahir Farooq visited Tollinton Market and reviewed the ongoing upgrade works here on Monday.
Director Enforcement Faraz Ahmed and Project Director Mirza Inam gave a briefing to the DG and said uniform boards have been installed on every shop of the market while tuff tiles and pavers have been installed on the parking area of the market.
They told the DG slaughtering of chicken without SOPs in Tollinton Market was a major reason for unhygienic conditions on which DG Tahir Farooq directed that the shopkeepers of Tollinton Market should remove dirt from their shops, complete the paint and cleaning work as soon as possible.
The project director and contractor complained about continuous non-cooperation of some shopkeepers and disruption of the work. Tahir Farooq directed the district administration and LDA teams to deal strictly with those who obstruct the work.
He said that the work of installing tiles was underway in the corridors around Tollinton Market. Eliminating dirt from Tollinton Market was not possible without the cooperation of the shopkeepers. He directed that the LDA enforcement squad should perform duty in Tollinton Market until the work is completed.
The DG added that a plan of action will be formulated in collaboration with the district administration, Food Authority, LWMC and other institutions to eliminate dirt from the market.
On the instructions of the DG, the LDA Town Planning Wing was active against illegal commercial buildings, commercial fee defaulters’ properties. LDA teams sealed 132 properties by conducting operations in various schemes and LDA controlled areas.
LDA teams conducted operations in Johar Town, Shadman, Shah Jamal, Gulshan Ravi, New Muslim Town, UBD Canal Road, Faisal Town, Garden Town and Allama Iqbal Town. LDA teams sealed 22 properties in Khayaban-e-Firdausi Road, Johar Town for non-payment of commercial fees.
49 properties in Shadman, Shah Jamal, Gulshan Ravi, UBD Canal Road, New Muslim Town, 39 properties in Faisal Town, Garden Town were sealed for illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercial fees.
