SH-15 artillery real game changer for Pakistan at LoC
SH-15 artillery is export version of Chinese made PCL-181 artillery which China uses in its defences
ISLAMABAD: SH-15 artillery became a real game changer for Pakistan at LoC in the recent war with India.
“This self-propelled SH-15 artillery which Pakistan had recently acquired from China is a wheeled artillery and is light in weight which helped Pak Army artillery formations to better shoot and scoot against Indian artillery at the LoC,” said a defence expert.
The SH-15 artillery is the export version of the Chinese made PCL-181 artillery which China uses in its defences.
“Before the induction of SH-15, Pakistan Army’s artillery regiments had issues with mobility, interoperability and were heavy in weight and it was a disadvantage for Pak Army artillery formations.
Better fire rate, precision and better shoot and scoot capabilities helped Pak Army to achieve its tactical objectives at the LoC.
“SH-15 is one of the best and most effective systems in its category in this region. Across the LoC, military elements including HQs, logistic bases, artillery positions, and posts that had caused civilian casualties in Azad Jammu and Kashmir through unprovoked artillery and small arms fire were relentlessly targeted and heavily damaged, until they raised white flags and asked for restraint,” stated a press release by ISPR office Rawalpindi dated May 12, 2025. “Pakistan’s retaliatory response named Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, Quranic phrase meaning Wall of Steel, initiated on night 9/10 May, was a textbook demonstration of integrated tri-services jointness, enabled by real-time situational awareness, network-centric warfare capabilities and seamless multi-domain operations. This synergy across air, land, sea, and cyber domains allowed for precision engagement, overwhelming lethality and lightning operational tempo. All platforms operated in synergy, delivering coordinated effects at carefully selected decisive points,” said the press release.
