Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has directed officials to accelerate work on solar and wind power projects, stating that funds will be allocated in the upcoming provincial budget for new renewable energy initiatives.
He made these remarks while presiding over a review meeting of the Energy Department on Wednesday, which was attended by Energy Secretary Mushtaq Soomro, Additional Secretary Zain-ul-Abidin Ansari, Chief Executive Officer of Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company Saleem Shaikh, and other senior officials.
The meeting included a detailed discussion on new schemes proposed for the upcoming budget, as well as a briefing on the progress of ongoing and previously approved projects. Shah emphasised the importance of completing all energy schemes within their designated timelines. He instructed officials to promptly resolve any obstacles affecting the progress of existing or new projects to ensure smooth implementation.
He also underscored the need to improve the department’s overall performance and efficiency, aligning its efforts with the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to ensure access to affordable electricity for the public. “Access to affordable electricity will benefit millions of families,” Shah said, reiterating the government’s commitment to addressing the province’s growing energy needs.
