Maryam launches Yellow Line, e-Taxi, Solar Electric Charging Stations

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched Yellow Line, e-Taxi & Solar Electric Charging Stations in Lahore here on Tuesday.
She chaired a meeting in which a briefing was given on mass transit projects. A feasibility study report of the Yellow Line Mass Transit System was presented. Maryam directed starting work on the Yellow Line project from the Jinnah Terminal up to Harbanspura at the earliest. She was apprised about an eco-friendly e-taxi project in Punjab. She approved in principle the financial model of e-taxi project and it was agreed to launch a pilot project with 1,100 e-taxis. It was decided to install a solar power system for e-charging stations. She sought a report on determining more routes for the mass transit system in Gujranwala and ascertaining the routes according to public convenience.
The meeting reviewed issues related to the e-taxi project. It was told that the Punjab government would provide subsidy in the e-taxi scheme. The CM reviewed a proposal to establish charging stations along with petrol pumps.
Also, Maryam Nawaz directed purchasing state-of-the-art medical equipment for government hospitals along with providing medical equipment on a priority basis by keeping in view the needs of patients. She chaired a meeting in which a detailed review of all health projects was taken into account. She sought a comprehensive plan for the Nawaz Sharif Medical District. On this occasion, a proposal to establish a school of paramedics in the Nawaz Sharif Medical District was agreed upon.
The meeting decided to establish the Institute of Genetic and Blood Diseases in the Nawaz Sharif Medical District. The Surgical Orthopaedic Medicine Rehabilitation Centre will be established in the medical district. Maryam directed completing the Lady Wellington Hospital project in six months and all other health projects. It was also decided in principle to build a cardiology centre in every prominent city across Punjab.
