Islamabad:The Islamabad police claim a 20% drop in the crime rate following reforms initiated by Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, who took charge in April 2024. This achievement has placed Islamabad at 93rd in Numbeo’s World Safety Index, surpassing major global cities.
In a recent incident, police swiftly recovered a kidnapped toddler from Centaurus Mall after a report to the Margalla police station. Special teams utilizing technology and intelligence traced and apprehended the abductor, reuniting the child with his parents. Police leadership commended the teams’ efforts, highlighting the force's commitment to citizen safety and urging public cooperation.
