‘Stem cells crucial for good health, beauty of skin’
LAHORE : Principal Ameer Uddin Medical College Prof Dr M Al-Fareed Zafar has emphasised that stem cells play a crucial role in maintaining overall body health and enhancing the beauty of the skin.
He added that these cells not only accelerate the wound healing process but are also instrumental in tissue repair and sustaining healthy skin. He stressed the importance of personal care, highlighting that every individual should focus on their internal body’s health and skin to prevent dermatological hazards.
He expressed these views while addressing participants at a symposium organised by the Department of Dermatology, Lahore General Hospital focused on the benefits and significance of stem cells in wound healing and improving skin aesthetics.
Prof of Dermatology Dr Atif Shehzad, Dr Saadia Siddiqui, Dr Tahir Kamal, Dr Wajiha Saeed and Dr Aima Shaheen along with MS Prof Dr Faryad Hussain shared valuable insights with the participants on this occasion.
Prof Al-Fareed Zafar further stated that in modern medical science, the role of stem cells in skin health is being increasingly highlighted. Individuals involved in fashion, entertainment and modeling are particularly attentive to their skin’s health, Prof Al-Fareed Zafar added.
He urged young doctors to stay updated with advancements in modern science, medical research and technology. While various skin care products such as medications, lotions, and creams which can be beneficial and he warned that substandard products can be harmful to the skin, as well. People suffering from skin conditions should consult qualified dermatologists to avoid complications, he added.
Prof Atif Shehzad reiterated his commitment to continue organizing such symposia and academic activities to help in enhancing the professional capabilities of young doctors. At the conclusion of the symposium, medical experts answered questions from the audience.
Prof Fareed Jawad, Prof Mahmood Saba, Prof Mustahsin Bashir, Dr Atiya Tareen, Prof Iqbal Hussain Dogar, Dr Bushra Bashir, Dr Ghazala Butt, Dr Saima Shahid, and Dr Shaikha Mufti were among the notable attendees.
A large number of doctors, nurses, and students participated and appreciated the initiative of the Dermatology Department of Lahore General Hospital.
