‘Social conditions main reason for mental illnesses in Pakistan’

Rawalpindi : Most of the people of Pakistan suffer from mental illnesses and the main reason for this is injustice, unemployment, poor economy, terrorism and insecurity. Unless we promote education in the society and solve the problems of the people, mental illnesses will not decrease, says a press release.

For this, it is necessary that the government and institutions work together to eliminate terrorism from the country and prevent the increasing number of mental illnesses. These views were expressed by former Provincial Minister for Health and Population Welfare Punjab Dr. Jamal Nasir while addressing as the chief guest at the Fifth National Conference on Social Psychiatry organised by Watem Medical College, Pakistan Association of Social Psychiatry, Pakistan Medical Association, Pakistan Academy of Family Physicians, Health Services Academy Islamabad and Pakistan Psychological Association at a local hotel in Rawalpindi.

In which the psychological problems caused by terrorism were mainly discussed and their treatment was discussed. The event was organized by renowned psychiatrist Professor Dr. Mazhar Malik. Dr. Mazhar Malik said that currently the country is suffering due to terrorism in Pakistan, the number of psychological illnesses among people is increasing immensely and the feeling of insecurity in the society is becoming more and more evident day by day. He said that our organization, the Pakistan Psychiatric Association, has been working for the past several years to reduce mental illnesses and raise awareness among people, and the purpose of organizing this conference is to reduce mental illnesses by raising awareness among people.

Professor Mian Abdul Rashid thanked all the participants of the conference. Finally, Peshawar psychiatrist Professor Wajid Ali Akhunzada also delivered a lecture on terrorism and its problems. Vice Chancellor of Health Academy Islamabad Professor Shahzad Ali Khan, Principal and Watem Dental College Rawalpindi Professor Gulzar Ali Bukhari, Patron Chief PASP Professor Khalid Mufti, Dr. Manzoor, Dr. Ajmal and other professors also addressed the conference on psychological illnesses and terrorism.

At the end of the event, Dr. Jamal Nasir distributed shields among the participants and inspected the stalls.
