KARACHI: A high-level delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan, led by the country’s Minister for Transport Karabayev Marat Karimzhanovich, held a meeting with Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry on Monday.
According to a statement issued by the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), the visit was part of a week-long programme during which an expert-level delegation from Kazakhstan visited the KPT Head Office, aiming to extend business relations with Pakistan, particularly in the maritime sector.
The purpose of the meetings and visits was to strengthen relations with the Pakistan government and explore investment opportunities in its maritime sector.The delegates were given a comprehensive briefing on Pakistani ports (KPT and PQA), covering regional connectivity, the strategic importance of the Karachi Port, operational capabilities, and state-of-the-art facilities. The briefing was followed by discussions on business prospects and areas of mutual interest in trade and economic cooperation, aimed at enhancing collaboration in the transport and logistics sectors of both countries.
Chaudhry also accompanied the Kazakh delegation during a visit to the port terminals. The delegates expressed keen interest in port operations and the potential for future partnerships in the maritime sector.
