I want to highlight the serious issue of electricity blackouts in Pakistan, especially during the summer season when the heat becomes unbearable. People cannot use fans, coolers or air conditioners to keep themselves cool and this is the period when people need it the most. The main reason for blackouts, in my opinion, is the shortage of electricity and the poor condition of our power plants and wires.
Pakistan has abundant solar and wind resources but inadequate investment in renewable energy. The government must act to solve this serious problem. More electricity should be produced by utilising the country’s natural resources. Summer blackouts must end.
