KABIRWALA: The pace of work on construction of Kabirwala-Khanewal Road seems to be very slow, causing great inconvenience to the citizens.
A survey conducted by The News on Sunday revealed that the officials concerned had failed to complete the construction of road the timely. The people witness that pace of work on constructing roads was very slow. “The officials only prefer to uproot the road rapidly, but altogether ignore the completion of ancillary works,” Muhammad Hussain, a resident of Gulshan Noor Colony, told The News. He said though a large number of workers were employed during construction of the road, only a few workers were busy in building it.
“The engineering staff have left the site after carrying out digging work from Iqbal Nagar to Lahore Morre. They didn’t return to complete the earth work to pave the way for completion of other works,” he added.
Ghulam Ahmed, Muhammad Aslam, the shopkeepers of Iqbal Nagar, said before start of construction work, daily sale of their shop was around Rs15,000 to Rs 20,000. But, it has reduced to paltry Rs2,000 to Rs3,000 after the start of the project. They also said that Deputy Commissioner Dr Salman Salman had visited the project sites twice and expressed her concern over inordinate delays in the construction of the road.
