The M-9 Motorway, one of the key routs in Pakistan connecting Karachi to Hyderabad, suffers from several problems. One of the primary issues is the lack of adequate maintenance. There are reports of deteriorating road conditions, including potholes, damaged surfaces, and worn-out signage, which pose safety risks to commuters. Despite being a major motorway, some parts of the M9 face challenges related to infrastructure. For example, there are issues with proper lighting, lack of rest stops or emergency service stations and inadequate signage, all of which can make travel more difficult and unsafe, especially at night.
The M-9 has also experienced an increase in traffic, leading to congestion, accidents and delays. Poorly planned intersections, limited enforcement of traffic rules and a lack of proper barriers to segregate traffic from other hazards are among the contributing factors to safety concerns. While the M-9 Motorway is an important route for connecting key cities, its current state in terms of maintenance and infrastructure could definitely be improved to ensure safer and more reliable travel for everyone. The concerned authorities are requested to resolve these issues as early as possible.
