PESHAWAR: Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday expressed concern over the non-payment of salaries and pensions to teaching and administrative staff in several universities in the province.
In a statement, he said that faculty members and pensioners of numerous universities, including the University of Peshawar, had not received salaries and pensions. He pointed out that many university employees had been deprived of the additional salary and pension benefits announced by the government.
Criticizing the provincial government, he said that while the chief minister claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the richest province, the reality painted a different picture. He alleged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spent millions of rupees on its election campaigns in Lahore, but despite massive expenditure, the PTI continued to suffer defeats.
The governor said that the PTI government was least bothered to focus on the welfare of the people and its leaders were indulging in corruption. He said that the PTI had failed to deliver on its promises and was continuing to deceive the people with catchy slogans.
