PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and Senator Faisal Javed said on Saturday that protests remain the only viable path to securing the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Speaking to Geo News here, Faisal Javed said that PTI workers were being mobilised across the country and preparations for large-scale protests were already underway.
“We will take to the streets, and only then will the PTI founder be released,” he said, adding the workers were motivated, and conventions were being held.
“The time has come to announce the date for a nationwide protest,” he added.
Faisal Javed held all levels of the current system accountable for Imran Khan’s continued detention, stating, “The responsibility lies with everyone - from top to bottom.”
The senator underscored the constitutional right to protest, warning, “If we’re not allowed to protest, then remove this clause from the Constitution altogether.”
The PTI leader said that politics allows for both dialogue and demonstration. “The doors to negotiations remain open, but so do the avenues of protest,” he noted, adding that senior PTI leadership would soon finalize the protest strategy.
Referring to previous demonstrations, he remarked, “The federal government crossed limits last time, but the people are once again ready to rise.”
He urged other democratic political parties to support PTI’s cause and stand for fundamental rights.
