Ex-district nazim says will soon return from exile
SWABI: Former district nazim and MPA Ameer Rehman, who has remained in self-imposed exile since July 2018, on Saturday said that he would soon return to the country to resume political activities.
Ameer Rehman had gone abroad in 2018 soon after general elections when Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf worker Engr Shah Zeb was allegedly killed in a polling station in Karnal Sher Khan Killay and an FIR was registered against him in Kalu Khan Police Station.
Ameer was contesting election on Awami National Party ticket from the provincial assembly constituency, the then PK-47, Swabi-V against PTI incumbent MNA Shahram Tarakai.
Imran Khan, the incarcerated founder of PTI called Engr Shah Zeb’s father, Mukhtiar Khan and assured him of complete support while Shahram had also vowed that they would stand with Shah Zeb’s family.
Talking to The News on phone, he said, “I will be at home very soon, while standing among the party workers and the people of the district who supported my family in this critical time.”
“I feel sorry for remaining away from my people for seven years. However, the time is not far when I will once again be among the party workers, he added.
He said that he would work to strengthen the party in the Swabi district with the help of the workers. The former district nazim said that he would end the internal differences in the party after returning home and strengthening the party from the village council to the district level.
He added that he would help to resolve the problems of the workers.
“The party workers have given immense respect to our family. We will not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the party and its supporters,” he said Ameer Rehman, who had remained the party district president, said, “The time is not far when ANP will emerge as a strong and powerful party in Swabi district once again.”
When contacted various ANP leaders and workers said that his return would be good for the party at this critical juncture they needed him to strengthen the party.
