Journalists condemn abduction of colleague
LANDIKOTAL: Journalists on Tuesday condemned the abduction of tribal journalist Inamullah Mehsud and urged authorities to protect media workers in the tribal districts.
Inamullah Mehsud, a member of the Tribal Union of Journalists, was allegedly abducted from his home in Tank by unidentified armed men on April 12.Eyewitnesses said that heavily armed, masked individuals stormed into Inamullah’s residence, forcibly took him at gunpoint, and moved him to an unknown location.
Inamullah’s younger brother, Anis Mehsud, told journalists that the family had had no contact with him since his disappearance.“We fear he was abducted due to his reporting. He was covering sensitive issues and had received threats in the past,” Anis said.
The former president of the Tribal Union of Journalists, Hasbanullah, condemned the abduction. “Inamullah’s life is in danger. We demand immediate and effective action from the regional police officer and district police officer in Tank,” Hasbanullah said.
