Woman shot at, hurt by ex-husband

LAHORE:A 37-year-old woman was injured after her ex-husband opened fire on her in the Manawan police area on Tuesday.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Safdar, entered the home of his former wife, shot at her and fled. The woman had remarried following their divorce. She was shifted to Services Hospital, where she is reported to be out of danger. Police have registered a case.

Suspect held for blackmailing woman under marriage guise

The Virtual Women’s Police Station arrested a man for sexually assaulting and blackmailing a woman under the guise of marriage. According to police, the woman from Iqbal Town contacted the 15 helpline, reporting that the accused, who had recently returned from Dubai, drugged and raped her at a hotel after luring her with false promise of marriage.

Meanwhile, Police arrested several suspects during targeted operations across the City. Nawankot Police nabbed a drug dealer with 4kg drugs. Barki Police arrested three suspects with 1.5 kg hashish and 50 litre toxic alcohol. Islampura Police held nine suspects, including drug dealer Shehbaz with 1.48kg hashish. Bhati Gate Police arrested two bike thieves. Model Town Division Police arrested 48 POs, 19 court absconders, 50 wheelie-doers and 10 involved in aerial firing during the current month.

9,530 arrested over electricity theft this year

Lahore police have registered 7,770 cases and arrested 9,530 individuals this year in connection with electricity theft, according to a spokesperson for the department. The arrests were made across various divisions of the City, with 1,207 suspects apprehended in Iqbal Town Division, 1,879 in Sadar Division, 3,040 in Cantt Division, 1,874 in Model Town Division, 1,095 in City Division, and 438 in Civil Lines Division.

Shopkeeper shot dead

A 37-year old shopkeeper was shot dead at a cosmetics shop in Minhala Bazaar, Hadyara, on Tuesday. The assailants, including a woman, fled the scene after the shooting. According to police, CCTV footage revealed that a man in shalwar kameez exited the vehicle and opened fire on the shopkeeper, Khalid Majeed, before escaping. The footage also showed that there were four people in the car, including a woman who remained inside during the attack. Rescue officials shifted the body to hospital morgue. Police registered a case against four unidentified persons on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Naeem.

15 die on road in 24 hours

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,514 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 15 people died, whereas 1,799 were injured. Out of these, 769 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 1,030 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

Two injured after falling into well

Two men suffered critical injuries when they fell into a well in Gujarpura area near Mehmood Buti, Turki Bashir Kanta on Tuesday. They were pulled out of the well, and were shifted to Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital.
