Drop in crime rate in ICT
Islamabad:The Islamabad Police, under the command of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, have ramped up efforts against criminal elements, drug traffickers and their facilitators.
This intensified crackdown has led to a 20 per cent drop in the overall crime rate over the past four months. Robberies, street crimes, vehicle thefts, burglaries and other serious offenses have all declined by 20 per cent. In the first four months of 2025, 600 fewer criminal cases were reported compared to the same period in 2024, a police spokesman said.
IGP Islamabad stated that a comprehensive and coordinated strategy has been developed to combat crime. As part of this initiative, daily operations are being carried out across the district, specifically targeting criminal elements, drug dealers and their associates. Special police teams are taking decisive action against individuals involved in drug trafficking networks.
Furthermore, IGP Islamabad has directed all officers to target drug dens, suppliers, and buyers. The Islamabad Police will continue to take firm action against those spreading this menace among the youth, with the aim of eradicating it from society. All necessary measures will be taken to ensure a safe and secure future for the younger generation.
He emphasised that the foremost priority of the Islamabad Police is to protect the lives and property of citizens. “When we wear this uniform, we take an oath to serve and safeguard the public,” he said. “In fulfilling this commitment and performing our duties, many of our officers have been injured and earned the noble title of ‘Ghazi.’
