Islamabad reported more gang rape cases than KP, Balochistan, AJK, GB
Punjab reported highest number of cases of murder, gang rape, attempt to murder, Zina, kidnapping/abduction in 2024
ISLAMABAD: A total of 11,074 cases of murder, 2,142 cases of gang rape, 4,472 cases of Zina and 34,688 cases of kidnappings/abductions took place countrywide in 2024, reveals officially reported crime statistics available with The News. Punjab reported the highest number of cases of murder, gang rape, attempt to murder, Zina, kidnapping/abduction and cases of hurt across Pakistan in year 2024.
More importantly, the reported cases of gang rapes -- in the past whole year -- in the federal capital of Islamabad were more than those reported in KP, Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan.
A total of 11,074 murders were reported before the authorities in the past year across Pakistan. The highest of which occurred in Punjab, 4,908 in total. KP reported the second highest number of murders that took place in 2024, a total of 3,444 murders. Whereas in Sindh 1,826 murders were reported, 528 in Balochistan, 155 in Islamabad, 122 in GB and 75 murders were reported in AJK in the past year.
A total of 2,142 cases of gang rape emerged across Pakistan in the past year 2024. Punjab reported 2,046 cases of gang rape. Sindh reported 71 cases of gang rape. In KP, one gang rape and 402 cases of Zina were recorded in the past year. Whereas in Balochistan, no case of gang rape and 43 cases of Zina were reported. In Islamabad, a total of 22 cases of gang rape and 125 cases of Zina were reported. In Gilgit Baltistan, one case of gang rape was reported. And lastly, in AJK, a total of 33 cases of Zina and no case of gang rape was reported in 2024, officially reported crime statistics reflect.
A total of 28,702 cases of kidnapping/abduction were reported from Punjab in 2024, again which were the highest reported among other provinces. 4,331 kidnappings/abductions were reported from Sindh, 533 from KP, 406 from Balochistan, 238 from ICT, 108 from GB and 370 cases of kidnappings or abductions were reported from AJK in the past year. Accumulatively, 34,688 cases of kidnappings/abductions were reported across Pakistan in 2024.
Interestingly, Punjab reported the lowest cases of riots after Islamabad where no case of riots took place in the past year. A total of 4,533 cases of riots took place in 2024 across Pakistan. Punjab reported only two cases of riots, Sindh 3,472, KP 12, Balochistan 292, GB 196 and AJK reported a total of 557 cases of riots in the past year.
