Five of a family drown in canal
SWABI: Five members of a family lost their lives, while nine others were rescued after an auto-rickshaw carrying 14 people plunged into the Gohati canal on Monday.
Rescue officials said the rickshaw, carrying women and children, was en route from Bakar village to the Gohati area when the driver lost control and the vehicle fell into the canal.Local divers managed to rescue five people before the arrival of the rescue teams, who later saved three more.
Four of the injured were shifted to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed that three of them - two women and an 11-year-old child - had died.A total of nine people were rescued. However, two individuals remained missing, and the search for their bodies was still underway at the time of filing this report.
