Establishment Division sources confirm both appointments, highlighting govt's focus on strengthening law enforcement
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced the appointment of Riffat Mukhtar, a Grade-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), as the new director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Mukhtar, who previously served as inspector general of the National Highway & Motorway Police (NH&MP), brings an extensive experience to the critical role within the FIA.
In a related development, Waqar-ud-Din Syed, a Grade-20 PSP officer and former director of the FIA Cybercrime Circle, has been appointed director general of the newly-established National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), operating under the Interior Division.
Syed’s appointment follows his recent conferral of the Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the president of Pakistan, recognizing his exemplary service and outstanding performance in combating cybercrime during his tenure at the FIA. He is the first DG of the Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.
Establishment Division sources have confirmed both appointments, highlighting the government’s focus on strengthening law enforcement and cybersecurity.
