Call to enforce juvenile justice law
LAHORE:The Juvenile Justice Committee of the Lahore Bar Association, in collaboration with Legal Awareness Watch, has demanded the federal government ensure the effective implementation of the Juvenile Justice System Act (JJSA) 2018, which remains largely unexecuted across Punjab despite the passage of seven years.
In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Law and Justice, the committee highlighted concerns over the lack of progress in enforcing key provisions of the law. The call for action follows recent official correspondence, including a response of the letter issued on March 14, 2025, by the Punjab Home Department and a letter dated March 27, 2025, from the Lahore High Court’s Directorate of District Judiciary to Advocate Sarmad Ali. Both documents emphasised the urgent need to finalise the rules of business under Section 24 and establish juvenile justice committees under Section 10 across the province.
