11 die in separate incidents in two days
LAHORE : The City witnessed a series of tragic incidents during the first two days of Eid, claiming the lives of 11 people in separate occurrences, including road accidents, suspected murders, drug overdoses, electrocution, and a sudden medical emergency.
Motorway police recovered the bodies of two unidentified girls, aged between 18 and 20, abandoned on the motorway under mysterious circumstances. Authorities believe the suspects placed the bodies unnoticed before escaping the scene.
The police have yet to determine whether the deaths resulted from an accident or a murder. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Hospital morgue.
In a separate incident, a 35-year-old man, identified as Manzoor Ahmed, lost his life after being electrocuted in Kutchi Abadi, near Hafeez Centre in Gulberg. Rescue teams rushed to the scene but found him unresponsive.
Reckless speeding led to a fatal accident near Jinnah Underpass, Garden Town, where two young motorcyclists lost their lives. The accident occurred when their motorcycle skidded out of control and rammed into a pole. Both riders died on the spot due to severe injuries.
One of the victims was identified as Abdul Moeed, son of Arif, while the other victim remained unidentified, so far. Their bodies were shifted to the hospital.
In Kahna, a 22-year-old man, identified as Feroze, lost his life when his speeding motorcycle rammed into a pole on Ferozepur Road. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old unidentified man was found dead near Minar-e-Pakistan’s Gate No 3 at Lorry Adda. Police suspect he was a drug addict who passed away due to substance abuse. His body was shifted to the morgue.
In another traffic accident, 35-year-old Naeem, who was critically injured in a road mishap in the Factory Area, succumbed to his injuries in LGH.
Similarly, an unidentified man, around 45-year old, was found dead on the roadside in the Ghalib Market area of Hasnainabad. Police believed the cause of death was drug abuse.
A young man, identified as 25-year-old Rashid, was found dead near the Awan Town bus stop in Sabzazar. Officials confirmed that he was also a drug addict, and his body showed no signs of external injury.
In another incident, a passerby, estimated to be around 50 years old, collapsed and died near the Australia Mosque in Naulakha. Police suspect he suffered a cardiac arrest. His identity could not be immediately ascertained. Police shifted all the bodies to the morgue.
