13 die in road accidents in 24 hours
LAHORE:Thirteen people died and 1,491 others injured in 1,297 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Around 669 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 822 with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by the Rescue medical teams. Meanwhile, five people died in various incidents across the city.
The Edhi Foundation reported that a 25-year-old motorcyclist, Ismail, died in a traffic accident near Badami Bagh. In another incident, 40-year-old Ijaz lost his life in a road crash in the Mozang area. Meanwhile, near Garhi Shahu Bridge in Missri Shah, a speeding motorcycle collided with a pole, killing 22-year-old Muaid, a Sudanese national student at the UET. In other incidents, an unidentified 45-year-old man was found dead near Sadar Gol Chakkar in North Cantt. A 60-year-old Rafiq, a resident of Awam Town, suffered a fatal cardiac arrest near Taxali Chowk, Bhati Gate. Police with the assistance of Edhi volunteers, shifted the bodies to morgue.
316 POs among outlaws arrested
Punjab Police arrested 46 operatives of 19 gangs, 316 proclaimed offenders, 89 court fugitives, and 78 habitual criminals across the province in the last 24 hours. According to the police spokesperson, 95 illegal weapons were seized along with hundreds of bullets. Police also recovered 35 motorcycles, 21 mobile phones, 81 cattle, 25 tolas of gold, and Rs5 million in cash. During the operations, one robber was killed, while three accused were arrested in injured condition.
Man booked for offering bribe to cops
A man was booked on charges of offering bribes to cops on Wednesday.
Reportedly, Sherakot police intercepted a vehicle at checkpost and arrested a criminal identified as Waqas, who was wanted by police for a year in a murder case registered with Khanqah Dogran Police, Sheikhupura. During the checking process, the bus driver offered a bribe to the police team to get favour. The officials brought the incident to the notice of DSP Mubashir Awan and registered a case against the driver and arrested him.
Thieves gang busted
Hanjarwal Investigation Police have apprehended three members of 'Arshad Chabail' theft gang. The police arrested gang leader Arshad Chabail along with his accomplices Ali Raza and Arshad, recovering significant evidence, including Rs400,000 in cash, illegal weapons, keys, mobile phones, and a mini truck used in their criminal activities.
