Youth ends life over domestic issue
LAHORE:A 26-year-old youth committed suicide following a domestic dispute in the Kahna area on Monday. According to an Edhi Foundation spokesperson, Tanveer was upset over a family issue and he shot himself dead. Initially he was rushed to hospital where he died.
Two gangsters held
Gulberg police Monday arrested a two-member gang involved in tracking and robbing shoppers in the area. Accused Mubashir and Usman were apprehended from FC Katchi Abadi for their involvement in multiple incidents of street crime. A stolen motorcycle, three mobile phones, cash, and two pistols were recovered from the accused.
Robber couple arrested
Police Monday arrested a couple involved in over 50 robbery incidents across the City. The Operations Wing's IT team detained accused Iftikhar and his wife Amina of Sheikhupura. The accused were active in looting people in the Township and Green Town areas. The accused were also arrested six years back.
Three rape suspects held
Police arrested three suspects within two hours following a gang rape complaint in the Chuhng area. The police detained accused Waseem Akram, Shehzad, and Adnan and raids are being conducted to apprehend the fourth suspect Arshad. According to DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, the case has been registered at Chuhng Police Station. According to initial investigations, accused Waseem Akram lured (S) and kept her at a relative's house and assaulted her sexually for two days.
910 drug peddlers held
Punjab Police have raided 1,685 spots across the province, including Lahore and arrested 910 drug peddlers during the last week. According to Punjab Police spokesperson, some 448 kilogram charas, 51 kg heroin, 83 kg ice and more than 12,500 litre liquor were recovered from the accused. The operation was conducted on the directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab.
10 die on road in 24 hours
Around 10 people died, whereas 1,561 were injured in 1,346 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 683 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 878 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
AIG injured as pistol goes off
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Monitoring Khalid Mehmood Afzal sustained wounds when a gun went off accidently on Monday. He is currently posted at the Central Police Office (CPO). The incident occurred when his official pistol accidentally went off and a bullet hit his leg and foot. He was immediately shifted to hospital where he is out of danger. Authorities are investigating the incident.
