ISLAMABAD: The ministry of industries and production said Thursday no export of sugar is taking place “at the moment”.
In a statement, the ministry said, “Keeping in view riding trend of sugar prices and anticipated demand surge in the holy month of Ramadan, ban on export of sugar was imposed and no export of sugar has been allowed since 18.01.2025 from any customs stations. Besides, strict control on borders are in force to prevent any attempt of smuggling.”
“Moreover, in order to maintain the supply and demand, the concerned authorities are under direction to take strict action against hoarders and price manipulation of sugar and other commodities,” the ministry added.
