EBM, SOS Children’s Village partner to support single mothers
KARACHI: English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM), Pakistan’s leading food FMCG company, has partnered with SOS Children’s Villages Pakistan to launch a family strengthening programme aimed at supporting single mothers and their children.
The initiative, which provides a secure environment for children while their mothers pursue livelihoods, aligns with SOS’s long-standing mission of supporting orphaned and abandoned children in Pakistan since 1977.
EBM and SOS Children’s Villages held a groundbreaking ceremony at the SOS facility in Karachi in September 2024, with project completion targeted for June 2025. As part of its commitment, EBM presented a Rs50 million cheque to SOS, reinforcing its support for child welfare and education in the country.
“At EBM, we believe our responsibility goes beyond business -- it extends to nourishing lives, hearts and communities,” said Managing Director and CEO of EBM Dr Zeelaf Munir. “Our partnership with SOS reflects our commitment to meaningful social impact through women’s empowerment, financial inclusion and youth development.”
Beyond this initiative, EBM has consistently promoted gender inclusivity through policies that facilitate the rehiring of women after career breaks, flexible work arrangements and career development programmes. The company remains committed to fostering an inclusive environment where women can thrive both professionally and personally.
