Pakistan, Oman plan to establish direct sea link
KARACHI: Pakistan and Oman have pledged to deepen cooperation in transportation, logistics and information technology (IT), with plans to establish a direct sea link between the two nations, officials said following a high-level meeting on Thursday.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan met with Omani Minister for Communication, Transport and IT Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed Al Mawali in Muscat.
The meeting, also attended by senior Omani officials, focused on enhancing bilateral collaboration in key infrastructure and digital sectors.
A major outcome of the talks was Oman’s commitment to dispatch a high-level delegation to Pakistan to explore joint initiatives in transport, logistics and IT. Minister Khan emphasised the need to leverage both countries’ expertise to expand physical and technological networks, boosting trade and connectivity.
Al Mawali highlighted the longstanding cultural and historical ties between Pakistan and Oman, underscoring the importance of translating these into strategic economic partnerships. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening sea and air connectivity, alongside expanding cooperation in IT, to drive mutual economic growth.
