NOWSHERA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Khwaja Saad Rafique on Wednesday said that the resurgence of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan was a direct consequence of past government policies.
“When terrorists are facilitated and resettled, such tragic outcomes are inevitable,” he told reporters after offering condolences to the family of the late Maulana Hamidul Haq at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak.
Saad Rafique said that the slain religious scholar was a proponent of peace. He was actively working to improve strained relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan and was striving to establish harmony among neighboring nations, he said and emphasized that those who killed Maulana HamidulHaq were the enemies of peace.
Accompanied by Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Information Ikhtiar Wali Khan and other political figures, Khwaja Saad Rafique paid tribute to Maulana Hamidul Haq, recalling their time together in the National Assembly.
He stressed that the attack on Darul Uloom Haqqania was not just an attack on an institution but on Islamic values. The PMLN leader condemned the recent surge in terrorism and linked it to past mistakes of reintegrating extremist elements. He pointed out that a major terrorist attack had recently occurred in Balochistan, highlighting the urgent need for a united front against terrorism.
Rafique urged all religious and political parties, along with national institutions, to stand together against terrorism. He warned that political rivalries and blame games would only bene-fit extremist elements, further destabilizing the country.
He called for lowering political tensions and fostering cooperation between the state institutions and political parties for the country’s stability.Earlier, in a meeting with Maulana Hamidul Haq’s family, including his brothers Maulana Rashidul Haq and Usama Sami, as well as his son and political successor Maulana Abdul Haq Sani, Saad Rafique assured them of his support. He vowed to convey their concerns to his party leadership and promised that the perpetrators would be brought to justice soon.
