HANGU: Following a report published in ‘The News’ and aired on Geo News about national footballer Mohammad Riaz selling ‘jalebis’ to eke out a living, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned him to the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad for a meeting.
Hangu Deputy Commissioner Gohar Zaman Wazir said that after the news in media, the prime minister took notice and invited Riaz for a meeting. “Mohammad Riaz has been called to the PM House in Islamabad. We have made all necessary arrangements for his visit,” he stated.
Expressing his gratitude, Mohammad Riaz said: “I am thankful to The News and Geo News for highlighting my story and bringing it into the notice of the top authorities.” It is worth mentioning here that Mohammad Riaz, a national-level footballer from Hangu, has been selling jalebis in the local market since 2018.
Riaz was forced to abandon his sports career due to a host of reasons, leaving him with no choice but to find alternative means of earning a living.His story was first reported by ‘The News’ and later broadcast by Geo News, prompting the prime minister’s swift response.
