Key panel recommends promotion of over 100 officers
Five officers of Information Group were recommended for promotion from Grade-19 to 20 included DG Media Finance Division
ISLAMABAD: On the first day of Central Selection Board (CSB) meeting held on Tuesday, more than 100 officers of four service cadres of federation were recommended to be promoted to Grade-20 and 21.
The issue of promotion of officers of Foreign Service, Information Service, Postal Service and Secretariat Service Group was on the agenda. According to sources, four officers of Information Group were recommended to be promoted included DG PBC Saeed Sheikh, Joint Secretary Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Ashfaq Khalil, Imrana Wazir and Samina Farzeen posted in the Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications.
Five officers of Information Group were recommended for promotion from Grade-19 to 20 included DG Media Finance Division Hamid Raza Wattoo, Director ABC Muhammad Saleem, ED Sarkar TV Daniyal Gilani, Director External Publicity Wing Shazia Siraj and Deputy Registrar Ambrain Gul Shahid.
On the second day of the meeting (March 12), cases of promotion of officers of Audit and Accounts Service, Inland Revenue Customs Service and Ministry of Planning are on the agenda. On the third day (March 13), cases of promotion of officers of Police Service, Ministry of Interior, Pakistan Administrative Service, Ministry of Defence, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of National Health and Ministry of National Food Security are on the agenda.
On the fourth day of the meeting (March 14), a decision will be made to promote officers of Commerce and Trade Service, Railway Service, Federal Public Service Commission and Ministry of Education. The CSB meeting is being chaired by Chairman Federal Public Service Commission Lt Gen (retd) Akhtar Nawaz Satti. The meeting started Tuesday after an unusual hiatus of one-and-a-half years. The last meeting of CSB was held in August 2023. The recommendations compiled will be given final approval by the prime minister. Separate notifications will be issued by the Establishment Division regarding the promotion, posting and transfer of each officer.
For the promotion cases of police officers, IG Police of the provinces and Federal Secretary Interior have been nominated as Board members. The secretary of the ministry whose promotion case will be taken up will also attend the meeting.
The DG Intelligence Bureau and DG ISI will attend the meeting for promotion of officers of their respective institutions.
