Madrassa bombing: IGP says probe enters crucial stage

NOWSHERA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed on Tuesday said that the investigation into the suicide attack on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUIS) chief Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak had reached a crucial stage.

He assured that all facts would soon be presented to the public.

Speaking to the media, he said that the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) had submitted a report regarding the suicide bombing, confirming that the attacker was not a Pakistani national. However, he noted that the investigation had progressed significantly, though certain details were being kept confidential for security reasons.

During his visit to Darul Uloom Haqqania, the IGP met with the bereaved family, including Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani’s son, Abdul Haq Sani, his brother Maulana Rashidul Haq, Osama Sami and Maulana Irfanul Haq to express his condolences. He also briefed them on the developments in the investigation.

Discussing security measures, Zulfiqar Hameed said that discussions were held on enhancing security at Darul Uloom Haqqania. He said that all aspects of the case were being thoroughly examined, with authorities considering every possible angle.

He stated that some sensitive details of the probe could not be disclosed at this stage to avoid compromising the investigation. However, he assured that once the inquiry was completed, all findings would be shared with the public.
