NOWSHERA: The funeral prayers for Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUIS), were offered at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak along with other martyrs.
Thousands of mourners, including religious scholars, political and social figures, and the general public participated in the funeral at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak.
Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani was laid to rest beside his father, the late Maulana Samiul Haq Haqqani, amid an atmosphere of grief and sorrow. During the funeral, it was announced that Maulana Rashidul Haq Haqqani, son of Maulana Samiul Haq, had been unanimously appointed as the new deputy administrator of Darul Uloom Haqqania.
In a significant move, religious scholars also conducted the ceremonial turban-tying (Dastaar Bandi) of Maulana Abdul Haq Sani, son of the late Maulana Hamidul Haq, as his political successor.
Akora Khattak witnessed an overwhelming display of grief, as scholars, politicians, and thousands of attendees gathered to pay their last respects. Addressing the funeral, Maulana Rashidul Haq Haqqani, Maulana Yusuf Shah and Maulana Irfanul Haq expressed their gratitude to all the participants and urged the public to remain patient. They emphasized that Pakistan was their homeland, for which their ancestors made countless sacrifices.
Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Abdul Haq Sani reaffirmed his commitment to continuing his father’s mission, stating that threats, attacks and intimidation would not deter them from following the path of truth.
A large number of scholars, religious leaders, political and social figures, government representatives and members of religious and political organizations attended the funeral.
In the concluding prayers at Darul Hadith, Sheikhul Hadith Maulana Anwarul Haq, the administrator of Darul Uloom Haqqania, led a collective prayer and expressed gratitude to the attendees.
Religious scholars and the Haqqani family endorsed the appointments of Maulana Rashidul Haq Haqqani as deputy administrator of Darul Uloom Haqqania and Maulana Abdul Haq Sani as the political heir of Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani.
Following the turban-tying ceremony, thousands of scholars and religious leaders passed a unanimous resolution demanding a thorough investigation into the attack. They urged the government and state institutions to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice. The resolution called for holding all those involved accountable under the law, emphasizing that such incidents should not go unpunished.
Meanwhile, Afghan Consul General Mohibullah Shaki, along with a delegation, attended the funeral prayer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUIS) leader Maulana Hamidul Haq, who was martyred in a terrorist attack. The delegation offered Fateha for the deceased and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. They condemned the terrorist attack.
The Afghan delegation, led by Consul General Shaki, visited Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak, where they spent over an hour. They also participated in a condolence reference held at the Awan-e-Shariat Hall, where they paid tribute to Maulana Hamidul Haq and his companions who lost their lives.
On behalf of the Taliban government, the delegation extended sympathies to the bereaved family and reaffirmed solidarity with them during this difficult time. The attack has been widely condemned, and concerns have been raised over the security situation in the region.
