Transportation woes
Samundri is one of the six tehsils of Faisalabad. With a literacy rate of 76 per cent, it is home to around 730,000 people. Since there is no major university or industry in the area, students and workers are forced to travel to Faisalabad for higher education and better work opportunities. But there is no proper transportation system from Samundri to Faisalabad. Compacted wagons and local busses are the only means of transport. There is no proper schedule for the busses. The drivers do not move until their vehicle is completely filled with the passengers.
The mid-way stops are also a major inconvenience. The elderly and people with disabilities especially face challenges while travelling. Students are left with no option except wasting hours on their way to school and back home. Factory workers also face difficulty in reaching their work places. I urge the transport authorities and the tehsil administration to improve the transportation system in order to facilitate the people of Samundri.
