PU says IJT activists attack IER office
LAHORE:Some Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) activists on Tuesday allegedly attacked the office of Punjab University Institute of Education and Research’s (IER) Director Dr Abdul Qayyum and broke windows, a chair and other office paraphernalia.
A Punjab University spokesperson said that Jamiat activists, including Shoaib Fakhri, Tayyab Gujjar, Mujtaba, Anis, Zain Shaukat and others could be seen in CCTV footage vandalising Director IER’s office. He said that Jamiat workers had come to seek permission for a sports programme and Dr Abdul Qayyum had asked them to follow the SOPs.
In retaliation, Jamiat workers got angry and used foul language with Dr Abdul Qayyum. He said that Jamiat workers got injured while sabotaging the office, while the CCTV footage was exposing Jamiat’s lies. According to the spokesperson, the Punjab University administration will take strict action against the Jamiat workers involved in the incident and are in contact with the police.
