QUETTA: Eight people, including six security personnel were injured in bomb attack at a truck convoy of the guarded copper project in Mangochar area of Kalat district, on Monday.

Official sources said that a convoy comprising 29 trucks carrying blaster copper to Karachi from Saindak project was targeted at main Quetta-Karachi national highway when it reached in Mangichar town.

Unknown armed men planted an improvised explosive device in front of Nadra office at the main highway and when the trucks convoy guarded by personnel of Frontier Corps reached at the site, a powerful explosion took place hitting a security forces vehicle.

Heavy exchange of fire started soon after the blast which continued for some time. As result of blast eight security’ personnel and a truck driver were injured.

“As many as six security personal and a civilian driver have received injuries in the blast,” a senior official of the Kalat administration said, adding that the more security personnel rushed to the site and shifted the injured to district hospital Kalat, officials said, “

Officials said that after the blast, the traffic was suspended between Quetta and Kalat at the National Highway. However, now traffic has been restored after security clearance.
